Hatha YogaYoga means union between the individual and the supreme soul. The science which teaches this method is called yoga teaching (Yoga Shastra). The Constituent and the foundation of Raja-Yoga is Hatha -Yoga. Hatha-Yoga concerns the physical body and the control of the breath.
The word Hatha is a combination of two words. ‘Ha’ signifies “Moon” (the respiratory flow on the left side ) and ‘tha’ signifies the ‘sun’ (the respiratory flow on the right side) The word Hatha is therefore related to the breath flowing thorough the left and right nostril respectively
Hatha Yoga teaches the way to unite the “sun” and the “moon”, the Prana (life power_ and Apana (expiratory and purifying power) through the regulation of breath.
Hatha yoga promotes health and longevity. Its practice regulates the action of the heart, lung and brain. It promotes the digestion and the circulation of blood. The function of the kidneys, the liver and the whole digestive system is thereby increased |
